Wembley Tears
While many have complained about this year’s top flight season (no title race, the non-existent relegation battle), at the business end of the season there’s been no end of joy for various sets of supporters not used to the experience. Newcastle ended their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy, Spurs won in Europe to end a 17-year trophy drought, and Sunderland won at Wembley for just the second time since 1973.
From a personal perspective, to be at Wembley to see Palace win a first major trophy in their 120-year existence was something I hadn’t prepared myself for. To be there with the old man (who got me into this mess) made it even more special. Sadly, Campbell (pictured bottom right) was unable to secure a match ticket.
